Biography

John Barneson earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Oregon State University in 1974 and in 1976 completed his master’s in IE, again at Oregon State. In 1975, he joined Kaiser Aluminum Corporation as an industrial engineer and since then has held a number of increasingly responsible staff and operation management positions at a variety of Kaiser locations. In 1996, Barneson was named a vice president of Business Development and Planning for the Flat-Rolled Products business unit; a year later he took on the same role in Engineered Products. In 1999, the job of Chief Administrative Officer was added to his scope of responsibilities and in 2001 he was promoted to Kaiser’s senior vice presidential ranks. Since 2007, Barneson has served the company as Senior Vice President for Corporate Development.
